Stuck at home and feeling ineffective?  Maybe you are trying to stay focused on your career with your children under foot.  Maybe the change of pace is undermining your confidence? This is the perfect book to read (or listen to) in chunks throughout these days at home.  Why?  Because it is so darn empowering. Presence is brilliantly researched and thoroughly accessible.  It is filled with stories of people just like us who learned how to flourish during the stressful moments that once terrified them. Every reader will learn how to approach their biggest challenges with confidence instead of dread, and to lean into these challenges with satisfaction.

Virgil was right. “They are able who think they are able.” Amy Cuddy would agree 100%.  This book is about bringing your boldest self to your biggest challenges.  This is a book for today.

Where does she begin?  With this:  In order to “think you are able”, start by standing up straight.  This author has a wildly popular Ted Talk on how our body language informs our moods and our effectiveness through each day of life.  Don’t we all need a heavy dose of Wonder Woman posing right now?  Here’s a link to her famous TedTalk.  If you watch this, I promise you it will lift you up, make you smile, and help you see the possibilities for success in all things, small or large.

The Power in your Body Language

It isn’t hard to understand how the food we eat every day influences our health and the clarity of our thinking, right? It is not, however, immediately obvious that something as simple as our posture can impact our self-efficacy and the impression those around us get from our comportment. Whether we are alone or in a group, whether we are on a stage or vacuuming our family rooms, our body language is always instructing us, sending information to our very core beliefs about our presence in this world. Wow. The studies detailed throughout are cheerfully offered up and I have to say, her predisposition for positivity comes through on every page. This book is informative – it is filled with simple advice, all of which is cost-free to implement, and all of which has an immediate positive impact on your state of being. Who doesn’t need that, right now?

If you read it, you are going to love Amy Cuddy’s style and you will be blown away by the content of her research.

So, tap in to your inner-Wonder Woman or Superman. Strike a powerful, heroic pose for a few minutes each day. You might feel a little foolish and the dog might tilt his head at your odd behavior, but you will feel the difference immediately!
